Property Goals

Our property is a place from which we are sent to the world. It is a place in which we worship and educate. It provides a resource we can share with our community. It should not be a substitute for our mission, but it does support our mission.

  1. Work on “curb appeal”. This might include front entrance, signage and other improvements that make the exterior of the church building more appealing and more visible

  2. General maintenance

  3. Technological maintenance and improvements

Service Goals
Jesus once said, “As you have done to the least of these my brothers and sisters, you have done to me.” This means that Jesus is present in the least of these and, since it is important for the church to follow its Lord, we should be among the least of these.

School Kit Collection

The St. John's church community is invited to donate school kit supplies and materials that will be used by the Service and Outreach Ministry to assemble school kits that will be donated to the Lutheran World Relief distribution facility in New Windsor, MD. From that point, the kits will be grouped with kits donated by other church congregations for distribution to the needy around the world. In 2009, LWR distributed a total of 231,360 school kits to people in 21 different countries.

Stewardship Goals

Stewardship is a “Spirit-driven” use of our time and money. It does not merely pertain to the life of the congregation, but it applies to all aspects of our lives. It involves serious reflection on how we use our time and talents as disciples and it involves how the whole congregation employs its time and money. Stewardship focuses on growing disciples! The Stewardship Committee will:

  1. Promote stewardship education in the congregation;

  2. Create a "no fear" climate for talking about stewardship;

  3. Communicate needed/available talents for St. John's ministries;

  4. Conduct a fall stewardship program (talents and pledges);

  5. Communicate stewardship results to congregation annually.

Stewardship

And God is able to provide you with every blessing in abundance, so that by always having enough of everything, you may share abundantly in every good work. (2 Corinthians 9:8)

There are many needs in God's creation and many ways that we can each contribute our time, talents, and treasures. Look around-there are opportunities everywhere! As a congregation and as individuals, we are blessed to be able to share all that we have. A St. John's mission is to ncourage members to share with those in need and St. John's offers opportunities to share.
