St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church
A Word About Worship

Pastor_Travis_Kern2

Welcome!  Wherever you are on life’s journey you are welcome to all that is ours in Jesus Christ our Lord.  From flip flops to three piece suits all are welcome in worship.  Like the seasons of the year the Church has its own rhythm and way of keeping time.  Summer provides a time for us to gather to be nourished by the Lord as rain and sun nourish the fields. The focus of our worship is engaging God who is faithful, Christ who is present, and the Holy Spirit that leads us into life.
Strong center and open door is one way to describe worship on Sunday.  An open door to reality and conditions of the world are what we bring with us to worship.  A strong center expressing grace and forgiveness rooted in Baptism, Word, Communion, and Prayer shared by all for all people.  Our worship is always contemporary because we engage in worship together new each week.  Our worship is always traditional because the ancient Christian pattern of gathering together to hear the Word, share the Meal, and pray for the world and all those in need is present, too.

Church Council Mission and Goals
The mission of the Church Council is to develop goals and policies that are consistent with the mission and vision statements of the St. John’s Lutheran Church and implement these policies in a way that is consistent with Jesus’ life, death and resurrection. To this end, the Council will

  1. Create and support committees or groups in the congregation that are responsible for the different expressions of our ministries.

  2. Guide these committees in such a way that the priorities of the congregation are reflected in the activities of these committees.

  3. Publicize the work of our committees and ministries.

  4. Provide a vision of the entire ministry of the congregation that shows how the various ministries of the congregation reflect the Lordship of Christ.

  5. Assist in the communication between committees and other ministries so that each may know the work of others.

  6. Listen to members of the congregation for new ideas for ministry and appropriate criticism.

  7. Create a climate in which all members of the congregation are encouraged to develop and engage in ministry.

  8. Help identify and disciple new leadership within the congregation.
